The EU may have managed to grab the headlines with it's enforced data roaming reductions but don't be fooled. You will still be charged 1000% more per MB abroad than you are at home in the UK.
Thankfully 578 members of the European Parliament voted to reduce data roaming charges within the EU to:
However, €0.70/MB or £0.59/MB is still dangerously high. For instance the "average" smartphone user consumes over 400MB/Month. Therefore if they continue their normal activity on their fortnight summer holiday they will be charged over £236!
Don't get us wrong, the news is great for low mobile data users that would like to check the occasional email once abroad. However it is still a long way from allowing users to "Keep calm and carry on".
