Data roaming caps going global

Data roaming caps seem to be taking hold throughout the world as networks aim to prevent bill shock:

  • T-Mobile Poland offers a new data roaming package of 20 MB valid in the European Union for three days for PL19.90
  • Rogers Canada is introducing a new $7.99 pay-per-use roaming rate that gives customers access to 50 megabytes of data over a 24 hour period while traveling in the U.S
  • Telecom NZ are providing unlimited data in Australia for $6.00/day.

But does it work? Well Telecom NZ seem to think so! In Jan customer data roaming usage (in terms of total megabytes consumed) was up 174% for Australia, and up 193% in the $10.00 per day markets compared with January 2012!

We wonder in Vodafone UK will display similar results this year?! All we know is that our capped 30 Day Data SIM plans are proving to be really popular!
